Bread Pudding with Salty Caramel Sauce

Convert your stale old bread in a luscious and exquisite dessert with this quick and easy to make recipe


Makes 1 Bread Pudding

Time 50 min


Ingredients

1/2 loaf Challah or Brioche Bread

1/2 loaf Sourdough Bread

80 (2 cups) Milk

60 grams (4 tbsps) Melted Butter

250 grams (5 large) Eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tbsp of ground cinnamon

1/2 cup of almonds

1/2 cup of dried cherries or raisins


Salty Caramel Sauce

200 grams (1 cup) Sugar

60 grams (4 tbsps) Butter

60 grams (¼ cup) heavy whipping cream

pinch of salt


Directions

  1. Cut the bread in medium size cubes. Place all the pieces of bread in a greased 9 by 9 or 22 by 22 cm baking pan. Place all the pieces of bread in the pan, the pan should be filled but do not fill over it.

  2. Mix in a separate bowl the rest of the ingredients, pour all the mixture in the bread pan, mix all the ingredients together again.

  3. Place the pan in a preheated oven at 350 degrees fahrenheit or 180 degrees celsius for about 45 minutes or until the edges of the bread pouding are firm.

  4. In the meantime make the salty caramel sauce. Place in a hot pan over medium heat the sugar and let it cook until it melts, add the butter,mix the butter in until it dissolves with the caramel and add the heavy whipping cream, turn off the heat, mix until all the ingredients are incorporated and add a pinch of salt.

  5. When your bread pudding is ready, take it out of the oven, pour the salty caramel sauce on top and you are ready to enjoy it!

Ingredientes

1/2 hogaza de Pan Challah o Brioche

1/2 hogaza de pan de masa madre

80 (2 tazas) Leche

60 gramos (4 cucharadas) de mantequilla derretida

250 gramos (5 grandes) Huevos

1 cucharadita de extracto de vainilla

1 cucharada de canela molida

1/2 taza de almendras

1/2 taza de cerezas secas o pasas


Salsa De Caramelo

200 gramos (1 taza) de azúcar

60 gramos (4 cucharadas) de mantequilla

60 gramos (¼ taza) crema batida espesa

pizca de sal


Direcciones

  1. Cortar el pan en cubos medianos. Coloque todas las piezas de pan en un molde para hornear engrasado de 9 por 9 pulgadas ó 22 por 22 cm. Coloque todos los pedazos de pan en el molde, el molde debe estar lleno.

  2. Mezcle en un recipiente aparte el resto de los ingredientes, vierta toda la mezcla en el molde para pan, mezcle todos los ingredientes nuevamente.

  3. Coloque la fuente en un horno precalentado a 350 grados Fahrenheit ó 180 grados centígrados durante unos 45 minutos o hasta que los bordes del pan estén firmes.

  4. Mientras tanto, prepare la salsa de caramelo salado. Coloque en un sartén caliente a fuego medio el azúcar y dejar cocinar hasta que se derrita, agregue la mantequilla, mezcle la mantequilla hasta que se disuelva con el caramelo y agregue la crema espesa para batir, apague el fuego, mezcle hasta que todos los ingredientes estén incorporados y añada una pizca de sal.

  5. Cuando su budín de pan esté listo, sáquelo del horno, vierta la salsa de caramelo salado encima y ¡listo para disfrutarlo!
